So What Else Inc. is providing 35 diverse after-school programs weekly during the school year, 15 weeks of quality day camp over the summer and serving more than 1,500 kids a year. All of our programming is free of cost for youth, families, host schools and centers.


So What Else is a grassroots service organization focusing on the empowerment and development of youth, through out of school time enrichment and community service.

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

Youth Baseball Coaching with TPSS Youth Baseball & Softball Leagues

Date: ongoing, April through June 2015
Time: flexible, 2 hours per week
Location: various public parks in the Silver Spring area

Coaches wanted! Teach athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship to youth! Volunteers may choose to coach either coed baseball or girls softball at one of five skill levels ranging from age 6 to age 13. Coaches will hold one weeknight practice and attend one weekend game per week throughout the season. All practices and games are held locally in Silver Spring and Takoma Park. One coach and one assistant coach will supervise a team of 10-15 youth. Coaches will be responsible for communicating with league commissioner and parents of team members throughout the season as needed. A great opportunity for local parents! Minimum age for volunteers is 16 years.

  • The Harvest Collective “Friendraiser”

    We will be speaking about our projects and highlighting all of the Green Path programs.  Dave Silbert will kick-off a section of talks about bottle brick benches, our work at Springbrook, and our summer programs. More details forthcoming.
