JDRF One Walk with the JDRF Capitol Chapter

Date: May 31, 2015
Time: 6:30 am  to  12:00 pm
Location: Corner of 15th Street NW & Constitution Avenue, Washington D.C.

JDRF is looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks on Walk Day, including set-up, registration, food and beverages, and clean-up.  The assignments are for 5-6 hours in the morning and you should be done by noon!  Note: Metro does not open until 7am on weekends, so you’ll need to get other transportation (free street and garage parking nearby).

 

This is My Brave

This is My Brave seeks to provide a safe community and a platform to speak out to end the stigmas associated with mental illness and are asking for a set of volunteers to help facilitate the performance (tickets, usher, etc). More details forthcoming

The Friendship Circle

This is a recurring volunteer opportunity throughout this spring with The Friendship Circle, an organization in Rockville dedicated to bringing social and recreational activities to children and teenagers with disabilities.

They have asked for volunteers interested in leading and playing athletic games and activities.

We’re looking for a couple volunteers for each date, so if you’re interested please email dsilbert@sowhatelse.org!

Strawberry Festival with Milk Lady Markets

Location: Springbrook HS, 201 Valley Brook Drive, Silver Spring MD 20904

Milk Lady Markets’ annual Strawberry Festival is back and requesting 22 volunteers to assist in covering the festival operations from 8:30am and 4:30pm, covering set-up, booth and vendor support, breaking down the stage at the end, picking up loose trash on the grounds, and helping take down the booths and decorations. 

This is a great opportunity for volunteers, and all volunteers working the festival will be given a break time to enjoy the attractions!
