Join So What Else and volunteer to help beautify the Anacostia River by collecting floating debris and trash. Volunteers can choose to paddle on the river in canoes and remove debris or to clean the banks on the land. Project is from 9am to 12:30 pm. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes and long pants and should bring a change of clothes and shoes for after. This opportunity is eligible for PG county public schools SSL hours. So What Else and Kid Museum have teamed up, thanks to heartfelt work of Cara Lesser and team, in providing youth with hands on service opportunities, cultural and global education, and most importantly compassion, empathy and a path to social consciousness.

Join us for Montgomery County Community Service Day at 10 am until 2 pm at the Reginald S. Lourie Center for Infants and Young Children located at 12301 Academy way Rockville md 20852. (louriecenter.org) Volunteers will be landscaping and upkeep work around the center, both indoors and outdoors, to support an amazing organization that provides services for emotionally and developmentally delayed infants and toddlers. September 10th- So What Else and Nourish Now will be providing dinner for 25 adults and children at A Wider Circle.
A Wider Circle’s mission is to help children and adults lift themselves out of poverty.
For the fourth year in a row, So What Else will be the lead volunteer at the Falls Grove Halloween Parade. This event runs from 3-6:30pm at the Falls Grove Recreation Center on October 31st – 400 Casey Lane Rockville, MD 20850. Volunteers will be safely guiding the children around the neighborhood, passing out food, as well as working on set-up and clean-up crews. Also on this day, volunteers and participants are able to bring canned foods and other donations.
So What Else is kicking off of our largest environmental cleanup yet! We will be starting at Haines Point at East Potomac Park, Washington DC, 20242 at 9AM and working our way up the river toward Georgetown. Our mission is to clean up the trash that threatens our waterways. This will be the first of a series of four cleanups along the Potomac River. Please dress in appropriate clothing and wear closed toed shoes. This event is great for GROUP and FAMILY volunteering!
Join So What Else in helping NourishNow.org organize a Thanksgiving food drive at the White Oak Community Center. Volunteers will be collecting, boxing, packaging and distributing food for over 400 families from the Silver Spring area.
Families will be coming to pick up food for their Thanksgiving dinner.

We are still in need of donations, winter coats and warm clothing are a priority. This year we are donating to various men, women and children’s shelters in Baltimore.

The center is devoted to helping women achieve self-sufficiency. The purpose of the event is to help the women and children at the shelter to understand how special and appreciated they are even though they are homeless, they are still are loved. At the event there will be catered food, pastries, games, karaoke, mind stimulating activities, activities to get their muscles moving and blood circulating etc. Join us in volunteering for this great cause!

Details: This is a great opportunity for youth, grades 1st through 12th, to show off both their athletic and artistic skills. All youth will be able to participate in a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, they will learn how to screen-print their own t-shirts for the game and participate in a basketball skills clinic prior to the game.
