Patti Spady Ross – A native Washingtonian and alum of The American University, Patti Spady Ross has lived in the Baltimore area for nearly 15 years. Prior to her current work with Montgomery County Public Schools, she held several corporate and non-profit positions in marketing; her last as the Regional Director for the Challenger Center for Space Science Education. Patti is an enthusiastic supporter of equitable access to education, and as a life-long learner she holds a Master’s degree in management. Patti has passion for homeless services and has been an active volunteer at Sarah’s Hope, Mount Street, an emergency shelter for women and children in West Baltimore. She will be coordinating activities in the city of Baltimore with our extended arm @SWEBmore. Follow us on Twitter!

Gary W. Day

Gary is the founder of DB Capital Management, LLC. He brings to the firm 15 years experience in the private investment management industry. DB Capital Management, LLC is a private, boutique style investment firm, which specializes in identifying and acquiring investment vehicles in multiple industries including, but not limited to, medical device, software, social media technology and real estate. Prior to founding DB Capital Management, LLC, Gary founded the Georgetown Capital Group, which was originally based in Arlington, VA and which he later sold a large private equity firm.  Before founding the Georgetown Capital Group, LLC, Gary was an Associate then Vice President of finance for Washington Investment Partners, LLC. While there, he was responsible for identifying and analyzing potential real estate and business target acquisitions. The company acquired several million square feet of retail and commercial real estate as well as participated in several large and successful early round business financings. Gary has a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the American University in Washington, DC as well as an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from North Carolina State University.

Abby Frimpong

Abby Frimpong is an accomplished development professional with more than a decade of experience in all aspects of corporate and non-profit fundraising.  She is an inclusive and inspiring leader, adept at cultivating relationships to enhance cooperation and build teamwork, and a creative and strategic planner with a keen eye for detail and a proven, goal-oriented methodology. Her professional experience has included Major Gifts Officer and Director of Annual Giving at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Foundation. Prior to her work with the Foundation, Ms. Frimpong worked at Georgetown Preparatory School in Bethesda, Maryland, The Endocrine Society and Landon School. Ms. Frimpong volunteers her time and expertise to many worthwhile causes in her community.  She serves on the Fight 4 Diabetes Cure Committee, providing thought leadership on fundraising goals and practices as well as the Board of Youth Art For Healing. Internationally, she has worked with Books for Africa and Iniciativas de Paz.

Catherine Lopez – Catherine is from Falls Church, VA. Her parents are immigrants from El Salvador and have lived here for over thirty years. She is a first generation college graduate from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. Catherine is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Health Education and Promotion Management at Marymount University in Arlington, VA. She is excited to begin working with SWE and form part of the Advisory Board!

Glenn Stern – is from Philadelphia, PA and is a graduate of Temple University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences.  Shortly after graduating in 1981, Glenn moved to the Washington, D.C. metro area and began his career in sales for a variety of technology companies including Tekronix, Telecommunications Techniques Corporation, 3Com, Adtran, and Paradyne Corporation.  Within these years, Glenn’s focus was solutions selling and business development providing information technology solutions to Federal Government end users, telecommunications service providers, systems integrators and value added resellers.  In 2010, Glenn became VP of Global Public Sector for CALIENT Technologies as part of the executive leadership team providing next generation solutions and technology to government, service providers and education markets globally. Glenn is a member of AFCEA (VA) and BICSI and spoke at the PTC13 Conference in Hawaii in January on “Emerging Networks” including the use of fiber optic physical level switching technology for SDN (Software Define Networks) in data center and cloud architectures. As a youngster, Glenn sang for the All Philadelphia Boys Choir and traveled to Russia, Sweden, Finland and Denmark on a 21 day concert tour.  As an adult, Glenn is a band called Last Known Whereabouts (Olney, MD) on guitar and vocals.  The band’s genre includes classic rock, folk, country and jam music.

Ashley Woodhouse – serves on the Operations Committee as Health and Wellness Director. Ashley is a wellness, fitness and health advocate with a passion for motivating and inspiring. Ashley is the Supervisor of Events at Wellness Corporate Solutions, a nationwide health and wellness company, where she is fortunate to bring health awareness to thousands of lives a year. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys anything that gets her moving – spinning, hiking, yoga, group exercise classes, walking, you name it! With a strong belief that knowledge is power, Ashley will seize any opportunity to  share her learning’s with friends and family!
