Volunteer with So What Else

Have you ever thought you could make a difference but don’t know how to do it?
We have a solution!

By Working With So What Else:

  • we can help you with your community service projects;
  • you can work with us on a broad range of community and youth-focused efforts;
  • Montgomery County students can earn SSL’s; and
  • we can all make a positive difference in our community.

Join our volunteer force and become a part of
the So What Else. . . family

The Washington D.C. metropolitan area is one that represents some of the wealthiest towns, cities and counties in this country. However, we should never lose sight of the very real fact that there are many in our community who are living under impoverished conditions. So What Else focuses on the at-risk youth in our community. We are working to provide them with islands of peace, safety, knowledge and experiences that will position them to improve the quality of their lives now and into adulthood.

We ask you to join with us in these efforts by giving of your time, skills and caring. You will not only help the generation of tomorrow improve their life options and limit the negative impacts of their environment, you will also find a considerable sense of personal pride and satisfaction. These youth need people to extend a hand to help them move forward toward a healthy, productive life as good community citizens.

So What Else is an organization that values diversity as a core component of our organization and we represent a diverse cross-section of interested, interesting, committed people ranging from teenagers to seniors. The volunteer opportunities include working directly with the youth,  providing SWE with administrative support, working with us in building best business practices, and then some……..

You can tell us what you are interested in doing, when and where and we will work with you to find a set of experiences in line with your preferences.

Please, contact us, join us, and work together with us to make our community a better, safer place for our families and to invest in the future of the next generation.

It’s easy, all you need to do is:

  1. Send us an email at sowhatelsehelps@gmail.com and ask us what is available to meet your interests and availability.

    Good to meet you all today, Dave! I just realized this evening that I put down the wrong email address on your form (and on everyone else’s too, of course); I guess I was combining MC and Frederick CC addresses in my mind.

    Anyway, I’m so impressed with your organization–I love the idea of it, and I’m blown away by your ability to bring it all together. I’ll be sort of “showcasing” this org in my classes on Friday as a way to push students into choosing the service-learning option. For this semester, I’ve assigned a minimum of 12 hours of service in my Intro to Soc class. Will this be enough to help you guys out? Typically, I require a minimum of 20 hours, but I’ve been trying something different the past few semesters. It’s increased interest in the SL option, I’m sure because they are not so overwhelmed with the notion of 20 hours. Anyway, like I said, I’ll discuss on Friday, and we’ll go from there.

    I also noticed on your breakdown of events that you do some kind of service learning training? I was just curious about what that’s all about. Thanks for any info!

    Have a good week, and I hope to talk to you soon.
    Cindy
