Emily Caplan Stephenson

Emily is a public interest and civil rights attorney, who earned her Bachelor of Arts from Brown University, and her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from American University, Washington College of Law.
Emily served as an Attorney-Advisor/Complaints Program Manager for more than 22 years in three Federal Agencies, where she specialized in equal employment opportunity (EEO) law and diversity.
During her legal career, Emily has written over 1,000 appellate and agency-level decisions on federal-sector EEO cases, and has trained several hundreds of federal managers, supervisors and employees on EEO law and procedure.
She lives in Maryland, serves on the Board of So What Else, and as the daughter of the late Paula Joan Caplan, Ph.D., Founder of Picture Social Justice (PSJ), Emily is honored and proud to serve as an Advisor to PSJ. Emily has three fantastic kids all of whom have volunteered for So What Else.
