Big Day in Rockville
As a special end-of-year field trip for our students at one of our after-school programs we took them on a two part trip last week!
The day started out at the Lakewood Country Club- where our students learned tennis and wiffle ball techniques from licensed Tennis Professionals. Shout-out to the team at Lakewood Country Club for sponsoring our students on this day with free introductory tennis classes.
Several students were so excited to take part in this because they had never had the chance to play tennis before and they really enjoyed it. How amazing is that?
Afterwards, they headed to the Shirley Povich Field where they received free tickets to watch the Bethesda Big Train Baseball team play a phenomenal game of baseball. Our students absolutely love getting a chance to be at a baseball game and to meet the baseball players. The players even signed baseballs for them!
One of our students-Noel got to throw the first pitch! We want to thank Big Train and Humanity TV for honoring us with the title of Community Heroes. To sum up how amazing the day was- you could hear our students say, “This was the best day ever!”.
A big thank you to Paula Ross from the Gaithersburg Chamber of Commerce for buying snacks and desserts for our students on this day. They certainly enjoyed it!
