Impact Update: 2021 So What Else Summer Camps

So What Else summer camp is in full swing! This summer we are providing free summer camp enrichment programming to approximately 1,350 children from low-income households in Montgomery Country, Baltimore City, and Washington DC. Check out our current camp schedule here.

Here is what a day in the life of a So What Else camper looks like:

Healthy Foods

Healthy nutrition is key to having the energy to learn and grow. Thanks to our food partners and through our food recovery program, all of our campers are provided with healthy snacks and meals while at camp.

Health and Recreation

Health and wellness are at the center of all our summer camp programs. Campers participate in yoga and mediation, learn how to cook healthy snacks, and experience a variety of sports and recreational activities that promote moving and grooving!

Self-Expression

Whether it’s through a painting project or an improv workshop our campers learn and experience new and healthy ways to express themselves.

Gardening and Sustainability

We plant the seeds of sustainability and love for the planet in our campers by growing gardens together, creating upcycled art, and learning about why and how to care for our environment.

Play

Our summer camps are filled with the classics: tie-dye, arts and crafts, and water games to beat the heat. While at our camps, kids get to be kids!

Community Service

At So What Else camps we learn the importance of caring for and supporting one another. Through creative community service projects, we help students discover their “Big Idea” on how to support their community and the world.
