Love Through Nourishment: Bringing Food to the Doorstep
Love Through Nourishment: Bringing Food to the Doorstep
At So What Else, nourishment is about more than food. It’s about removing barriers and making sure people feel supported by their community.
For some of the families we serve, getting to a food distribution site isn’t always possible. Some are living with disabilities, lack reliable transportation, or face other challenges that make in-person food assistance difficult.
Our Hunger Relief Home Delivery Program helps close that gap by bringing food directly to clients.
Ada is one of those clients.
She first learned about So What Else from friends and began regularly visiting our food distribution site. After undergoing surgery, however, she could no longer walk and was unable to return.
Her absence didn’t go unnoticed.
Marsha, a member of the So What Else team, reached out to check on her. After learning what Ada was going through, Marsha and Megan arranged for food to be delivered directly to her home.
That support has made a lasting impact. Ada speaks warmly about the relationships she has built with the team and the comfort of knowing that when she needs help, someone is there to respond.
Even while navigating her own health challenges, Ada remains focused on sharing with others.
Her story is a reminder that nourishment can also mean connection, community, and a way to love one another.

That same support is strengthened through community partnerships. One of those partners is Identity, which regularly connects clients in need with So What Else.
Mishel Hernandez, Youth Development Specialist at Identity, shared:
“This program has been a valuable resource for both me and the clients I serve, helping ensure access to essential food when transportation or other barriers make it difficult to obtain them.”
That is what Love Through Nourishment looks like in action.
This November, we invite you to celebrate and help grow that spirit of care at the 16th Annual So What Else Love One Another Gala on November 6. Join us for an evening of connection, celebration, and support for programs like Home Delivery that help nourish neighbors throughout the DMV.
